Does anyone know the title author of this book?
There is a book I read with prose so stunningly beautiful it left me breathless. It had a swirl and flow like poetry, I do not remember the author or the title! Help! Here is a summary of what I remember:
The main character lived as a single dad with his daughter in Italy where he worked as an author of Italian cookbooks. He has cut off contact with his family (mother and 3 brothers in the States) when someone calls to tell him his mother is very ill. He takes off, reluctantly, to reunite with his family.
The big scene is when the sick mother throws a party to watch the turtles hatch from their shells on the beach and race for the water. One of the brothers is mentally unstable, and he gives his dieing mother a casket at the party.
