How much energy does a drip-filter coffee machine use?

I’m trying to be as environmentally aware as possible, but I love my filter machine! As I live in the UK, it’s bad enough that the Coffee Beans I use have been transported from another country! Now I’m also beginning to wonder how much energy a drip-filter coffee machine uses to brew the coffee, how much energy it requires to keep the hot plate warm, and what this translates to in terms of pounds Sterling? Thanks for your help
@Innocent – thanks for your suggestion, but that’s not really what I’m after. I’ll try to be clearer: I realise I can look at the plug and see how many watts, amps and volts it uses, but I want to know how many units of electricity it will use over a given time; for example, an hour’s usage.

It would be difficult to answer that because It would depend on the size and model. It is not going to be a lot though. Not unless it is on all day long. If you are concerned, why not try one of these:

Also, there is a vacuum coffee maker. I still have one of these and they are probably the closest thing in taste to the one you use, but work in a different way. It is magical watching these things in action. It really is entertaining:

Then there is the AeroPress coffee maker. Again similar to the taste you get from your type. These are excellent little things:

I have tried them all and only a coffee officionado will tell you the difference. The reason I point them out to you is that they would all be likely to use less energy than the one you have. That would solve your problem.
