Alternative way to making coffee in a percolator.?
One of my friends recently sent me a nice bag of high quality coffee, but the only thing I have that I could make it in is a percolator. Seeing as it is higher quality coffee, I’d like to not kill all the flavor by running it through my percolator. I’m curious if I can put the coffee grounds in the “Basket” like you normally do, then take hot, almost boiling, water and SLOWLY pour it over the coffee grounds in order to make a good pot of coffee. Would this work, or is it just my imagination running? Should I just run it through the percolator and not worry about it? Thank you!
Actually you have answered your own question. The best coffee around never sees a percolator. Coffee makers are about modern convenience, not about quality. Look for a french press, and learn what coffee is supposed to taste like, although your method above will also work.
french presses are low tech, and cheap.
